A hand-pieced and appliqued quilt top. The quilt consists of 3" 9 patch blocks set on point with an alternating 3" block of white shirting fabric with a red print. There are 380 9 patch blocks. Dispersed throughout the 9 patch blocks are 16 8.5" applique blocks. The applique blocks have yellow and red flowers with green stems and leaves, possibly squash blossoms. There is a 3/4 inch border at the top and bottom of the quilt made from a brown and red print. The sides of the quilt have a double 3/4 inch border made from the same border print with a .5" border of shirting fabric in between them. The 9 patches are made of a variety of printed fabric, predominately browns and reds with some blue here and there. There is a piece of contemporary white muslin stitched to the back for stability. |
