Description |
Salver and bowl, sterling marked "W. Kendrick." 1990.14.1A A sterling bowl on a pedestal. The bottom edge of pedestal is decorated with intertwined alligators or snakes, along with leaves and clusters of four balls. Above, the pedestal has repousse large leaves with engraved tendrils. The bowl is flat bottomed and smooth except for the wide top edge, which curves outward and down with repousse grape clusters, leaves, and engraved stems and tendrils. The rolled, scalloped edge is etched to depict wood, or possibly snake motif [similar to pedestal]. The interior of the bowl has engraved large initials, which appear to be "CEC." Marked on the bottom "W. Kendrick" sterling 93. |
