Description |
Pieced quilt in the snowball and nine-patch pattern. There are four 12 and 1/2 inch blocks consisting of thirty-two 2 inch snowball blocks. The corners of each snowball block alternate between red and yellow. Each block is surrounded by a 3 and 1/2 inch tan sashing with a 9-patch block set in the corner of each sashing. The nine-patch are made of a white and red solid fabric. The top and bottom of the quilt have a double red border with a tan border in between and the sides of the quilt have a single red border that is 1.75 inches wide. The back of the quilt is a plain white fabric. The quilt is hand-quilted in diagonal rows that change direction with each block and border. There are nine quilting stitches per inch. The quilt was finished with a dark red cotton binding machine sewn with black thread. The tan was likely another color, perhaps green at one time. |
