Description |
Hand-pieced quilt. Large quilt created of solid quilting with patchwork blocks forming a border. Patchwork is of Lemoyne star pattern in solid blue and solid dark rose with black surrounding each to form a square block. Larger part of quilt is solid brown, quilted with a square grid and plumes. There is a quilted decorative motif in the center and possibly quilted initials. The top consists of two panels of brown silk sewn together. Squares are 5/8" across. Quilted top and black binding are of silk while backing is red, white and black striped cotton. Approximately 5' square. Some fading of the blue and some spots. The quilt is finished with a black satin binding. There are 9 quilting stitches per inch. |
