Description |
Dress, silk, beige and purple, beading, ca. 1930. A). Light weight silk dress. The dress is one piece with a jacket. The bodice is ecru colored silk with a v neckline trimmed with rows of seed and bulge beads. Sleeves are short sleeves with snaps at the cuff. At point of neckline is a collection of seed beads sewn in small clusters. With clusters of white seed beads sewn throughout. There is a silk ecru camisole attached under dress. The skirt is a purple silk fabric and begins at the natural waist line with a purple belt that attaches on left proper side seam with metal snaps. Smocking at side seams below waist. Skirt has flounced panels with three rows of flounces running through center front of garment only and not around entire circumference of skirt. Has a purple silk slip underneath with scalloped edge. 42.5" long; 40" diameter bottom hem of skirt; 15" diameter waist. 10" long sleeve. B) Jacket: Sheer purple silk. Opens in the front with darts on either side of the opening running from shoulder to bust. Darts running 4" down center back. Long sleeves with two layers of ruffles at the bottom. Sleeves close with two metal snaps. Length 17"; Waist diameter 14"; Sleeve length 22". |
