Description |
Dress made of gold/bronze silk with an iridescent quality. The dress has a natural waist with kimono sleeves and a panel of silk under the kimono style cut of the bodice. This panel has a layer of netting with gold zardozi floral applique and metallic seed beads. The layer of black netting with floral gold zardozi applique extends out under the kimono sleeves in a handkerchief style extending four inches down the arm. It is finished with a row of metallic seed beads along the trim. The skirt is asymmetrical with handkerchief panels extending out from the waist and draping down the right proper side of the skirt with a zardozi cord attached to the bottom handkerchief. There is a snap at the end of this cord that would attach to another section of the dress, creating a draping effect at the bottom of the skirt. The dress has a Watteau back extending down from each shoulder point with a panel of silk and netting underneath the Watteau drapes. This panel is heavily embellished with gold zardozi appliqued floral motifs and metallic seed beads. The two drapes meet below the waistline in the center back and form a seam extending down the rest of the skirt. The dress has a zardozi cord belt with large, intricate tassels at the end of each cord. The bodice of the dress is lined with a white cotton netting with a cotton ribbed tape reinforcing the waist and a cream silk underskirt. The dress fastens with metal snaps along the fold where the right proper Watteau drape meets the panel underneath. There are several weights stitched in the bottom hem of the dress. |
