This collection consists of photographs related to the career and personal life of Louisville jazz and blues singer Helen Humes. The collection includes several photos of performances, social outings, and national and international travel with other musicians, many of whom can be identified by their autographs. Folder 3 contains a photo of Humes singing alongside Count Basie, and folder 5 contains photos of travel to Australia with Red Norvo and Bill Dillard and to Germany with T-Bone Walker and Jump Jackson. Also included are several headshots of other musicians and photos taken in clubs across the country, which are framed in souvenir cardboard frames. Personal photographs include several of Humes's parents, Emma (1881-1967) and John Henry (1878-1975), including a photo of them at Club Bellhop on 18th and Madison Streets in Louisville. Folder 11 contains two photographs of the Humes Building at 511 S. 7th Street in Louisville, from which Humes's father, a lawyer and real estate agent, ran his business.
