Six photographs relating to Bessie Ford Patterson Lynch's family. Bessie Ford Patterson was born to James W. and Helen Smith Patterson in Lewisport, Kentucky, in 1883. Bessie moved to Louisville shortly after her marriage to Thomas Michael Lynch, a rate clerk for the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, on October 27, 1909. They had 6 children together: James F. Lynch, John D. Lynch, Mary L. Lynch Montgomery, Clara Margaret Lynch Fluke, Horace Lynch, and Patrick Lynch. Bessie died in Louisville in 1983. James Patterson's son, George "Orville" owned a drugstore in Hawesville at which James was a salesman for in 1920. 023PC22.4: Group school photo including Bessie Ford Patterson (back far right), ca. 1900. 023PC22.5: Helen Smith Patterson (1842-1889), Bessie's mother, ca. 1890. 023PC22.6: James William Patterson (1842-1927), Bessie's father, ca. 1890. The trip to the World's Fair was a 21st birthday present from Bessie's grandmother, Elizabeth Ford Smith. The names of others on the trip are embroidered on the pillow. |
