The collection consists of photographs of Rabbi Joseph Saltzman (1897-1984), who worked as a teacher and principal at the Louisville Hebrew School from 1922 until his retirement in 1962. He and his wife Leah Greenfield (Grinfeld) Saltzman (1899-1965) emigrated to the United States in 1921 to escape the violence of pogroms in Baranivka, Ukraine, and settled in Louisville, Kentucky. Leah Saltzman also taught at the Louisville Hebrew School. Photographers include Fischer Photography and Gus Frank. Separated from Joseph Saltzman papers, 1922-1984 [Mss. C S].
