Louisville & Nashville Railroad - 800 Series F 7 Freight Locomotives. These were the first freight diesels on the L & N property and photo shows them at South Louisville shops soon after arriving from the General Motors Electro-Motive Division at LaGrange, Illinois. Typed on verso, "Ready, willing and able," powerful diesel units of the Louisville and Nashville Railroad, used in the hauling of freight, await their assigned tasks after servicing the other necessary attention. Each has 1,00 horsepower. The L. & N. Railroad is now completely dieselized and has 733 diesels of all types." |
