Daguerreotype Colonel William Duerson and his family, Elizabeth, Mary, Nellie, Anne, Lucy, (Polly Adams, Mary's daughter). Standing is W. F. Duerson and Kate. William Duerson was born in Spotsylvania, Virginia, in 1796. He moved to Clark County, Indiana, some time before 1819. He was a merchant in Charlestown, Indiana, and later a real estate agent in Louisville, Kentucky. He was married to Nancy A. Tate in Clark County on November 23, 1819, and together they had 6 children. The family enslaved at least 14 individuals in Jefferson County. |
