Description |
Collection of photographs related to the Pettus, Speiden, and Mitchell families of Louisville. These families were interconnected by marriage. Most are studio photographs, cartes de visite, and cabinet photos. Many candid snapshots are from the 1930s and 1940s. Of interest is an 1875 photograph of Mat / Matt / Matthew Bransford, one of the Black guides at Mammoth Cave (991PC52.73); a self-photo of I. B. Webster, a prominent Louisville photographer from the 1850s until ca. 1880 (991PC52.72) and the Reverend Stuart Robinson (991PC52.71). There are also snapshots of the Peterson-Dumnesnil house (991PC52.14), Crescent Court (991PC52.15), Poppy Way (991PC52.16), Emmet Field House (991PC52.17), the Viglini house (991PC52.18) and Spring Station (991PC52..19).
