Collection of photographs related to Tom Wallace (1874-1961), editor of the Louisville Times from 1930-1948. Photos of interest focus on conservation and Latin American relations, which were subjects that were very important to Wallace. Photographs of the Inter-American Press Association include 1950 photographs of the group as it sat in on meetings of the United Nations, Eleanor Roosevelt is shown as the U.S. delegate (004PC15.20-.22); and a 1953 photograph of the group at a meeting in Jamaica (004PC15.23). The collection has several promotional photographs of Carter Caves State Park , Pine Mountain State Park, Cumberland Falls State Park, Kentucky Dam Village State Park, Pennyrile forest State Park, Natural Bridge State Park, Kentucky Lake State Park and General Butler State Park (004PC15.24-.39). The collection also contains photos of buildings, including the Grayson Tavern, in Danville, Kentucky (004PC15.40-.44); timber management forests in Pennsylvania (004PC15.45-.46); a bridge in the Harriman State Park in New York (004PC15.47); the Hungry Horse Dam Project in Montana (004PC15.48-.50); various images of unidentified landscapces (004PC15.5, .10, .51-.58, .60-.63); and a photograph of individuals important in the development of Mammoth Cave National Park (004PC15.64). |
