Collection consists of 59 photographs taken by various photographers from 1949-1981 relating to the Four Courts Louisville Hebrew Home, a nursing home for the Jewish elderly that was established in 1949 under the leadership of Carl K. "Kelly" Helman (1908-1989). Included are photographs of the opening ceremony in 1949 [018PC2.01-15]. Among those pictured are Four Courts founder and president Carl Helman [018PC2.01-05], executive director Rabbi Israel Silverberg [018PC2.02-03] and Dr. Rabbi Herbert Waller [018PC2.05]. Pictured in a 1947 photograph of a carnival fundraiser for Four Courts are Rabbi Israel Silverberg, Grant Helman, Carl Helman, and Sam Helman [018PC2.16]. There are exterior photographs of the heating plant, the Four Courts building, and the historic carriage house that was part of the previous private residence on the grounds [019PC2.17-24]. There are interior shots of the chapel, common areas, bedrooms, and kitchens [018PC2.25-46]. Other photographs are ones of Carl Helman addressing a group in the Four Courts chapel, labeled "Ground Breaking Ceremonies, March 1, 1959" for an expansion [018PC2.47]; Carl and Helen Helman at the Yahrzeit board dedication at Four Courts in 1964 [018PC2.48]; and Helen, Grant, and Roanne Helman posing with a painting of Carl Helman at Four Courts [018PC2.49-50]. Color photographs include ones of Libby Klein and Helen Helman, ca. 1966 [018PC2.51]; Carl and Helen Helman, ca. 1966 and undated [018PC2.52-53]; and Carl Helman with a plaque honoring him, 1972 [018PC2.54-56]. Most of the photographs were taken by Gus Frank. Separated from Helman-Victor family papers, 1895-2015 [Mss. A H478a].
