Description |
Portrait of General William Clark (1770-1838). He is shown in his military uniform with gold buttons and epaulets. His collar is raised up to his chin. The figure has reddish blonde hair with a receding hairline and prominent facial features. His eyes are brown and there is an overall reddish tint to his skin. His shirt is white and high collared, he has a lace tie protruding from his coat. The background is brown. There is a black ribbon tying back his hair. The frame is gold leaf and has a raised edge with ornate applied plaster. The appliques have a leaf and shell motif. There are appliques in the corners and in the middle of each side. Each applique is connected with a ribbon border. The surface of the fame is decorated with a snake-skin like pattern. There is a plaque on the bottom edge of the frame "William Clark (1770-1838) Joseph Bush". |
