Portrait of Clifton Hewitt Solger. The subject, seated in a red upholstered chair, is wearing a white baby's dress with saw-tooth lace trim and no shoes. The child has blonde curly hair. He has very large blue eyes. The background has a gradient starting with a dark brown and moving to a gray blue and then brick red brown. The frame has an arched window. In the upper left and right corners there is a flower with berries. The interior window has a very small egg and dart pattern with a palm frond pattern with a scalloped edge. The raised edge of the frame has shield egg motifs connected with leaf and berry motif with a very small filigree around the outer most edge. |
