Samuel W. Thomas notes "Michael Muldoon's father-in-law, James Smith Lithgow, a stove manufacturer, displayed his wares at the Louisville Industrial Exposition. Both the former Louisville mayor and Muldoon declared bankruptcy in 1873. There are not other extant photographs of this exposition besides the three in this collection."
